Travel Day

Who Doesn't Love A 15 Hour Flight?

We take off today at 2pm and arrive in Paris tomorrow at 8am.  Have a couple of hours layover before heading on to Lisbon.  We love Paris, so that is a great stop.  Only wish we had more time to spend there.

Hey Mother Nature... Really?

There have been a few trips where Mother Nature let us know that trying to skip out on the cold and rain of the PNW is not always going to happen.  Apparently this is one of those trips.

I've been watching the Lisbon weather for about 10 days and it's looked ok, until I checked this morning.


And, of course, we have tee times on Monday and Tuesday.



Made It To The Airport

My goodness the airport is crowded!  For a Thursday?  I had read where travel is flourishing now as an effect of coming out of the pandemic.  We're headed to the lounge and in a couple of hours, we'll be taking off.   




We'll catch up once we get to Europe.

Sintra and a Surprise

  Sintra... A Magical Town of Palaces and Forests Oh my goodness this is going to be difficult to describe.  Sintra is a charming town situated in the hills of Serra de Sintra.  Hidden amongst a magical forest are fairy tale palaces, villas, and the ruins of a 10th century Moorish castle. We have always wanted to not pass to the next world without embracing the daring adventure our life was meant to be.  Sintra is a wonderful chapter in that adventure. Pena Palace and the Magical Forest We walked about a mile from the palace to the Castelo do Mouros (Moorish Castle).  Oh, did I mention that this walk was all uphill?  Like climbing Mt. Rainier uphill.  But, oh was it worth it! The Algarve

  A funny thing happened on the way to the first tee.  Mother Nature decided to open the skies and give us some home town weather.  Yes, it poured!  But being the nimble travelers we are, we headed south to the Algarve where it was cloudy, but not raining. The Algarve is along Portugal's southern border and boasts some of the best weather in Europe.  This is where many of the golf resorts and surfing towns are. We took the 3 hour drive to Faro and enjoyed a pizza lunch before learning that there are storks here.  Yes, those storks!  And one look at the hood of our car told us that the seagulls in Seattle do not hold a candle to the storks in Portugal.  I will save everyone from seeing the picture Sonja took of the car.  However, you can see the storks.
